JUNE 2004 NEWS!

Where Are The "Animagic" Figures Now?

Arthur RANKIN, JR. shows a few of the later ones off right here!

This is of course FROSTY and RUDOLPH from RUDOLPH & FROSTY'S CHRISTMAS IN JULY (1979).

Many ask about the where abouts of the ANIMAGIC figures these days...most stayed in JAPAN. The ANIMAGIC Process for RANKIN/BASS was filmed in JAPAN. Some are here in private collections in the US. Some were given to the stars that voiced the characters and some were given to RANKIN/BASS Personal. THE MAKING OF THE RANKIN/BASS HOLIDAY CLASSIC: RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (MISER BROS. PRESS) has a whole chapter about the ANIMAGIC FIGURES and shows the ANIMAGIC Animators at work.

...Our Friend PINCHAN created many of the ANIMAGIC figures! More about him in the book!

1961 Pinocchio Article Discovered!

Check out this article from The Toronto Daily Star published way back on Saturday, April 29th, 1961 about the Rankin/Bass productions of Pinocchio and The Wizard of Oz! (The image quality isn't all that great due to the fact that the original was taken from microfilm, but certainly worth preserving!)

Rare Hobbit Soundtrack LP Located!

THANKS to our good friend PASTOR RODRIGUEZ...we now have the elusive Green Cover HOBBIT (Vista 5007) LP in our Archives! It is the original STEREO Soundtrack Songs featuring GLENN YARBROUGH and PASTOR was even kind enough to put it on a CD as well!

This RARE LP features the Songs from the classic Special. Many have asked about this LP and I wasn't sure that it even existed. The more common 3 or 2 VISTA LP Box set is in most collections BUT this one is tough.

It features the tracks: 1. THE GREATEST ADVENTURE 2. IN THE VALLEY, HA! HA! 3. OLD FAT SPIDER 4. ROADS 5. ROADS (Instrumental) 6. THE GREATEST ADVENTURE (Instrumental) 7. THAT'S WHAT BILBO BAGGINS HATES, MISTY MOUNTAINS COLD, GANDALF'S RECITATION 8. DOWN, DOWN TO GOBLIN TOWN 9. ROLLIN' DOWN THE HOLE 10. GOLLUM'S RIDDLE 11. FUNNY LITTLE THINGS 12. IN THE VALLEY, HA! HA! (Reprise) 13. MISTY MOUNTAINS COLD

THANKS Pastor! The sound is SUPERB!

Trio Network in New York!

The TRIO CABLE NETWORK is doing a CHRISTMAS SPECIAL about the classic CHRISTMAS SPECIALS! While in NY on MAY 24th and 25th Rankin/Bass Storyboard Artist Don Duga!they interviewed RANKIN/BASS Alumni TONY PETERS (RUDOLPH Designer) and DON DUGA (RANKIN/BASS Storyboard Artist)! Both said they had a wonderful time doing the interviews. Don even did an on camera drawing. You can look for this SPECIAL to air during the HOLIDAYS 2004. We understand it will also include interviews with Bing Crosby's family, Bill Melendez (A CHARLIE BROWN'S CHRISTMAS) and many others.
